I have decided to ditch the toxic chemical cleaners in my home and replace them with something that won’t burn my nostrils when I use it! So, I want to use up what I have first but after that, no more! I know that plain old vinegar and baking soda can clean a whole host of things but what other natural things double as cleaners? And what about those so-called “green” cleaners in stores now? Is that just to get someone like me to buy it or are they legitimately non-chemically?? (Don’t make fun of me! I know it’s not a word!)
Is there a place online that caters to those like me that crave clean air AND a clean home?? Sounds like I need to start searching. Help a girl out and tell me how you clean your home without the toxins.

Thanks so much! There is a bunch of great info there I’m definitely going to come back to! I like the cleaning party idea, too!

I am just starting to “green clean” but I found this website when I was searching. It seems very useful.

I love my green cleaners – and having clean air in our home. Here is what I use:
7th Generation All Purpose Cleaner (in a spray bottle) for cleaning counters/tables/bathroom
Baking Soda for cleaning the bathtub and grimy stove (works as well as Ajax or similar scrubbing powder)
7th Generation toilet bowl cleaner for the toilet
Natural soaps for dishwasher, dishes in sink, hands, and laundry (Ecover and 7th Generation)
I use vinegar with water and tea tree oil to clean the floors and it works adequately but not great. I’d like to find a better floor cleaner that’s natural actually.

Good to know you like the 7th Generation products! I have only used one and found it worked well for my bathroom sinks/counters but not so well for the tub and shower. Probably should have used baking soda for those. I have found Borax to work well for the tub though.

I’ve been curious about these, too. My roommate has a little boy and for some reason, the mere presence of a child made me think, “I wonder if I should switch to chemical-free cleaners?” I will keep an eye out for 7th Generation.
